Southern Sea (its first part) integrates Issues 21-42 of Laharī, continuing with the qualities of Kṛṣṇa chosen from Bhakti-Rasāmṛta-Sindhu, written by Rūpa Gosvāmī (1489–1564), one of the six Gosvāmīs and one of the most influential ācāryas of Gauḍīya-Vaiṣṇavism; added to that is the preface to Bhakti-Sandarbha, the fifth book of the Ṣaṭ-Sandarbhas, the most prominent philosophical work of Gauḍīya-Vaiṣṇavism, written by Jīva Gosvāmī (1513-1598), one of the most important Gauḍīya-Vaiṣṇava writers who produced a large number of works on the practice of bhakti, being also one of the six Gosvāmīs of Vṛndāvana and a nephew of Rūpa and Sanātana Gosvāmī. At the same time begins the sādhana-bhakti topic taken from Bhakti-Rasāmṛta-Sindhu as well as Śrī-Kṛṣṇa-Līlā-Stava, written by Sanātana Gosvāmī (1488–1558), brother of Rūpa Gosvāmī and also one of the six most prominent Gosvāmīs.

The preface to Bhakti-Sandarbha was written by Śrī Haridās Śāstrī Mahārājjī (1918-2013, great scholar of Gauḍīya-Vaiṣṇavism who, coinciding with his guru’s wish, went to Benares where he studied Indian philosophy for twelve years, obtaining nine university degrees and three graduate degrees covering the six systems of Indian philosophy and theology.
